It's really easy to make your own silhouette portraits. Here's how I did it---
First, I looked for some pictures to use on the computer. I'm no artist and I figured tracing would be the easiest way to draw our faces. It took me a while to find some good side profile pictures (you could always just take some pictures for this purpose), but I eventually did. I simply magnified them to the size I wanted and then traced right off of the computer screen...without pressing too hard, of course.
Then I used these patterns to cut out the silhouettes onto black paper. I just taped my patterns to the black paper and cut them both at the same time (just like you would with a sewing pattern and fabric)...it's a lot easier to be more exact that way.
Then, I cut some white paper to fit into my frames and taped the silhouettes onto it.
I spray painted my inexpensive Ikea frames black and put the silhouettes into them after the frames had dried.
And that's it! That's all it takes to make your very own, personalized silhouette portraits! I even made one of Scarlet...as of now she's our only child...ha ha ha.
I hung them up on our wall this morning. Don't they look great? I'm really excited they turned out so well.
