If you haven't noticed, I really like making pillows. They are an easy and inexpensive way to change up your decor. As such, I make them often.
I also have a thing for penguins. It's a long story why, so we'll just leave it at I love penguins and got an idea to try and make a little pillow putting applique-like penguins on it. You can do this with absolutely any animal you like. Here's how I did it---
First I drew some penguin patterns. Tip for ya, I just looked up some pictures up online and pretty much traced them right off the computer. I'm no artists and this worked best for me.
Then, I used the patterns to cut out the fabric and the felt that I used as a backing for the penguins so they stick out from the pillow (this is totally optional but since I had two different fabrics for the penguins this made it easier to sew as well as added some dimension).
Then I sewed the penguins onto some plain white fabric for background. I did this really slow to make sure I followed the outline of the penguin. The back shows how well, or not, that I succeeded in doing this.
After getting all the sides sewn on, I cut a piece of fabric for the back and finished the pillow just like I did this one... easy peasy!
When it's all stuffed and done, it looks like this! Isn't it cute? Honestly, I was happily surprised at the outcome of this craft project. I always have these ideas, and just wing-it when I make them, never knowing it they will turn out. I've been very lucky so far and they have!

Today was a gloomy day, perfect for crafting. I think I might make more of these pillows with other animals or letters. They are kind of fun and the perfect personalized touch to any decor.
Scarlet was glad when I was done...she doesn't like when I sew because I don't pay attention to her...ha ha ha...what a silly cat.
This is so cute! I LOVE penguins and your pillow turned out adorable!
