Growing pains

This is me and my hair about a year ago.  Obviously this was on Thanksgiving, so not quite a year.  But, I had my hair this short and even shorter for several months until December and then I started growing it out.

This is my hair now, after close to a year of zero haircuts.  It's kind of weird to have hair again and sometimes I really miss the ease of short hair.  I mean, I have to fix my hair like everyday because of course, it is neither straight nor curly.  I am excited to have long hair again though (yes, I'm growing it long).  While I loved having uber short hair, I really missed being able to play with long hair and french braiding it.  Also, short hair is a lot colder than long hair is...let me tell ya...beanies became my friends last year.

I look at the pictures from last year though and really miss it.  But, having short hair, while being a lot less maintenance, does have its drawbacks.  I had to get my hair cut every 4-5 weeks when it was that short and well, that gets expensive.  Plus, sometimes little kids thought I was a boy.  And while they were just little, it still wasn't fun having a kid wonder about my gender.

So while I have a serious love/hate relationship with my hair and some days just want to cut it all off I'm going to grit my teeth and deal with it because I'm excited to have long hair again...someday.  Seriously, it takes a long time to grow when it was only like an inch long!

Which do you prefer to have...long or short hair?  To be honest, I can't decide which I like better...
